Everyone expects outstanding service when they dine out. Regardless, if you’re up selling wine, exceeding customer satisfaction is the best way to ensure a generous tip.

Most people who dine out for dinner, expect prompt service.
Here are 10 ways to provide better service to assure top earning tips:
- 1) Deliver cocktails, wine and other beverages as soon as humanly possible.
- 2) Always detail a brief description of how foods are prepared.
- 3) Make customers aware of any orders that require more preparation time than other entrees. Ask if the patrons would prefer all courses delivered at the same time or separately.
- 4) Be sure to make customers aware of any foods with peanuts or foods prepared in peanuts sauces. (Some people have serious allergic reactions to peanuts sauces).
- 5) Each time a table is served a beverage or food, always follow-up to see if anything else is needed in the way of condiments, sweeteners, etc. In addition, it offers the patron the opportunity to return an unsatisfactory item. More importantly, it demonstrates your commitment to exceeding their expectations – inevitably a better tip.
- 6) When a customer complains about a bottle or glass of wine, offer to replace the selection.
- 7) Replenish waters and other beverages without being summoned.

Even if your restaurant is staffed with busboys, make sure the table is free of unnecessary tableware and glassware.
- 9) Instead of hawking over your tables, monitor them from afar. Pay close attention to interaction of patrons determine if assistance or service is needed.
- 10) Be as knowledgeable as possible regarding the food and wine you serve.
Most importantly, always try to exceed customer satisfaction by paying attention and expecting what maybe needed before it is requested.
